I am a university student from Taiwan, getting an first-time experience with VAPOR, where I have a few query in regard to the variables.
I cannot seem to grasp the understanding of 2D variables(LU_INDEX,MU,MUB.....) and 3D variables (U, V, W,PHB......),hoping you may explain it further in-depth for me.
Thank you.

I've download and installed Vapor 2.4 RC0 (Windows 7 64 bit) and I'm getting the following errors:

On openning Vapor:

Code 4017
Message: No .efc files found in directory
Other Message: Could not load Banner Image

Same thing happens when I load a data set.
If I try to display a spherical data set I get:

Code 4017
Message: Base effect "SphericalDVR" is not loaded

followed by

Code 4005
Message: Failure to initialize OpenGL renderer....

So, is this version still not working with spherical data sets? Should I go back again to version 2.1?

Regards
Dário

I think that VAPOR is the great software for visualization, and I have used VAPOR to visualize WRF result on windows system. I converted from WRF out to vdf file on a linux system because the converting was impossible on a windows system due to the big output. The vdf file and data folder on the linux was moved to my windows pc for using VAPOR gui. I tried to load vdf file on the windows system several times, but, I have problem about code : 2004 no data found in VDC. How do I solve this problem? And, I can not use VAPOR gui on the linux system ?

Hi. I've successfully binary installed VAPOR on several Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows 7 systems. However, I have one Linux Ubuntu system that, when I run vaporgui, displays the following error message: "vaporgui: error while loading shared libraries: libexpat.so.0: failed to map segment from shared object: Cannot allocate memory".

System specs:
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
3GB RAM (approx 1GB free)
Intel Core 2 CPU 6320
NVIDIA Gallium 0.4 on NV4A
300GB free disk

ulimit -a shows unlimited for (data seg size, file size, max memory size, cpu time, virtual memory, and file locks)

Our data is not formatted in any standardized way so no program can convert it for me, so I'm attempting to learn what .vdf is exactly.

If anyone has advice for how to create a vdf file from an arbitrary raw format or any advice at all I'd appreciate it.
