@Fred Castruccio recently wrote code to compute time means of $W_{isop}*TEMP$ and $W_{subm}*TEMP$ online, enabling separation of $HIDFB\_TEMP$. We should consider adding analogous terms for BGC tracers to enable evaluation of vertical eddy transport of nutrients in the euphotic zone. Some thought should be given for what terms should be added to the model to enable such a comparison. I don't think his code is generalized to arbitrary tracers, but that should be doable if we get it for $TEMP$.
