Hello! Can someone direct me to documentation to learn which TLAT/TLONG's to choose in CESM that will match the real world (and how to think of nlat/nlon in the grid, too)? Is there a table or a POP grid intro video?
@Holly Olivarez, the standard 1° POP grid has a displaced north pole (it's over Greenland). nlat
and nlon
are simply index variables corresponding to the dimension of the grid arrays (i.e., TLAT
, TLONG
, etc.). More here:

Yes, thank you, Matt, and thank you for the link. I am thinking more in terms of application. A colleague from CU has helped me a bit since I posted here. I am attempting to create plots of virtual transects that match real world ship tracks and want to be sure I am selecting lats/lons that match real world routes. In addition, when plotting I am using pcolor and need to use TLAT/TLONG values as well so I want to be sure what I select makes sense for real world lats/lons as well. Thanks for your reply!
