I want to advertise our new package LDCPy (Large Data Comparison for
Python):
LDCPy is a utility for gathering and plotting metrics from NetCDF or
Zarr files using the Pangeo stack. It also contains a number of
statistical and visual tools for gathering metrics and comparing Earth
System Model data files. The use case that is motivating this work is comparing
a CESM file with lossy compressed variants of the file.
Currently LDCPy supports CAM-FV and POP data (time series files). We
are still actively developing the package (adding features and compatibility
with other module data), and would be happy to receive any comments,
feedback, or suggestions on how we can make it more useful to the community. Also feel
free to report bugs :). As a final note, we have a number of sample notebooks available and have also set up a Pangeo
binder.
Thanks @Allison Baker for posting on Discourse too:

@all we are still looking for one more work-in-progress presentation for this upcoming Monday! Here is the signup form https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Tuv5vwGbjSKdJD5KLT0Zow8WCY0_zt35tTI6EIRGOk4/edit?usp=sharing
@all, We have decided to move the ESDS WIP talks from weekly to bi-weekly frequency and hope to reinvigorate this forum as a means of sharing ongoing work. Max Grover will be sending regular reminders for signups. Furthermore, we encourage proposals for mini-tutorial topics to intersperse with the WIP talks. Ask questions via Zulip or email—for example, "how do I compute EOFs in Python?" and we can identify people to present an overview of the answer in the WIP meeting.
As discussed in this week's meeting, xDev will be holding office hours 3-5p on Mondays via this Gather here:
https://gather.town/i/qvE3R7yq
We will retain the alternate week meeting slot for other ESDS topics and smaller focus groups. There will be no WIP talk next week, but a small group will meet to discuss a roadmap for ESDS. Please let me know if you are interested in joining this group; we do not mean to be exclusive, but also acknowledge challenges to in-depth conversation with large groups.
Since 5 July is a holiday, WIP talks will resume 12 July and we'll commence the alternating schedule from there.
Have a great weekend!
This is a reminder that WIP talks start up again today! This afternoon at 2 PM MT, there will be two presentations:
Following each talk, we will have time for questions, providing feedback for the presenters!
