I tracked down the domain info and requested a Google report for project pythia.

Also do we want to reply to the email from StudyCrumb?

I think in our space and for our audience, that email is pretty close to spam, and is similar to other messages we've had automatically marked as spam to the list. I don't plan on responding!

I threw this save the date together. Let me know if you have any feedback. Of course I won't share it until we've had a team conversation about if the event is in person only and all that.

I also made a quick Google form for interest: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScHsaqnRrPF4YhK4C15XvZwWMBq7oWNQmLiow1Bkgcfgm44Tg/viewform?usp=sharing

I'm not sure if we want to ask about funding or anything like that.

Boulder-area folks, I'm traveling in tomorrow to start my NCAR visit. If anyone's up for getting some dinner or a beer either Thursday or Friday evening, drop me a line!

I will be in Boulder Thursday evening, though will be busy after ~7 pm. I won't be in Boulder Friday for the workday, but could potentially come down in the evening. I'll be around next week; safe travels!

Does anyone know where I could get sample hurricane predicted paths data? I want to use this in the advanced viz cookbook I'm working on.

I'm not sure about a single packaged file of sample data that fits your needs, but tropycal gives simplified python access to the noaa hurdat2 database with a wide variety of analyses you can put together. Has some pandas/xarray compatibility too

historical forecasts, model ensembles, reports and discussions, all sorts or things buried in hurdat2

Thanks Drew that's a great place to start! I am writing a spagetti plot chapter and sometimes they're used for that, so it seemed like a good example to include
