Help in the User Interface

There are several ways of getting helpful information about the VAPOR GUI:

Tool Tips:  All of the user input widgets in VAPOR GUI (text boxes, combo boxes, buttons, etc. ) have tooltips.  To view a tooltip, hold the cursor over the widget and wait 1-2 seconds, and a short explanation will appear.

Context-sensitive help: For longer explanations, there is context-sensitive help for many elements of the GUI.  From the Help menu, click the left mouse button over the entry "?Explain This" :

(On Windows and Linux, you can just press shift-F1 while the VAPOR GUI window is selected).  Then click the left mouse button over the element in the GUI for which you want a full explanation.

Web Help: If your computer is connected to the Internet and has a Web browser, you can view VAPOR's Web-based help for various topics related to the current context.  Several different Web Help subjects are displayed in the Help menu, and clicking on any of these subjects results in a list of Web-based help links that you may select, as shown below:

Clicking on a topic will launch a Web browser at the specified topic in the VAPOR Web documentation site.

Flow setup:  The Flow panel has extensive help for setting up unsteady flow and field line advection.  To access this help, set the Flow Type to either Unsteady or Field Line Advection, and then click the button indicating "...Setup Help".
