Renderer control and renderer instances

vaporgui has many different renderer tabs, such as volume renderers (DVRs), isosurfaces, probes, 2D renderers, image renderers, flow renderers, barbs, and model renderers.  In each renderer tab you can control any number of instances of that kind of renderer.  These instances are named as "Instance: 1", "Instance: 2", etc.  If you have multiple visualizer windows, then the displayed instances are those that apply to the current active visualizer.

At the top of each renderer tab there is a section entitled "Renderer Control", which is used to control the various instances of that kind of renderer:

From the renderer control you can:

  • Select a particular renderer instance by clicking on its name.  When an instance is selected, all the parameters in the tab are associated with that instance.  In addition, when you have enabled one of the in-scene manipulators, the manipulator in the scene is associated with the selected instance.
  • You can turn on or off (enabling or disabling) a renderer instance by checking or un-checking the checkbox that is next to the instance name.  When you turn it on, that renderer will draw into the 3D scene.
  • To create a new, default instance, click on the "New" button.  The new renderer must be selected before you can set any of its properties.
  • You can make a duplicate of the selected instance by choosing the "Duplicate in: " selector.  You can either duplicate this instance in the current visualizer, or, if there are multiple visualizers, you can make the duplicate instance display in another visualizer.
  • When there are multiple visualizer windows, click at the top of a visualizer to make it the active visualizer, so that you can then edit the instances associated with that visualizer.
