Segmentation Fault when running vaporgui

I was able to unzip/untar the files in a windows pc...and then scp them to the Linux machine I want to use. Everything appears to have set up good...but now when I run vaporgui I get a Segmentation Fault. I am thinking this is related to the graphics capabilities of the machine, but not sure.

Running VAPOR over X11 is not advised - the performance will be terrible for most rendering - but nevertheless should not result in a core dump. That's a bug, and we'll add it to the list. The best way to run VAPOR remotely is to use an image-based remote display technology such as VirtualGL (http://www.virtualgl.org/).

Hi clyne, I have the same problem like Brian's, when I run the linux vaporgui it replies only a word "段错误" (which means "segmentation fault" I searched on the internet), the windows version of VAPOR is good, and the only reason I want to use linux version is because of the getWMSImage.sh. when I installed cygwin in my windows, it interfered with other programs in my computer, so I had to try the linux version and then got a segmentation fault, then I had to download the map image in the linux and put it to the vaporgui in the windows, so could you help to build a getWMSImage for the next windows version of VAPOR ~ my glxinfo is: server glx version string: 1.2 client glx version string: 1.4 GLX version: 1.2 OpenGL version string: 1.2 (1.5 Mesa 6.5.1)

Hi Marco, I was about to ask you on our forum whether you've 'sourced' the setup file before running Vapor.  This isn't intuitive for most users, but it's a necessary step to getting Vapor to run on Linux.  There's some documentation here.

 
In short, do the following:
In a BASH shell, go to your 'bin' directory, where vaporgui is installed
Type the following
. vapor-setup.sh
Then run vaporgui

Let me know if that works.

Hi. I am having the same issue in Ubuntu 16.04 with vapor 2.6 (tried 2.5 but same problem). I follow the installation instructions, source the vapor-setup file and vaporgui opens apparently ok. But when I load a WRF output file (i tried several different wrf files) I get a segfault: Segmentation fault (core dumped). Thanks

Does this problem still occur if you convert the data into VDC?  You can convert the WRF data using our wizard.  Once converted, you'll load a .vdf file instead of importing the WRF files.  This is done under the Data->Load data into current session menu.  Please let us know.

I downloaded the binary for RHEL 6. I don't see any file to source to set up the Vapor environment.
