The VDCWizard is an alternative to Vapor's command line tools, where the user is walked through the steps to convert their data into a Vapor Data Collection (VDC).
As discussed in the VDC Documentation, the two components that comprise Vapor’s data scheme are 1) a .vdf metadata file, and 2) a series of data files, formatted for progressive access (VDC files). The VDCWizard takes the following steps to present users with tools to customize a .vdf file and VDC dataset in an intuitive way.
During steps 3 and 4 in the diagram above, the user is presented with basic and advanced options to customize their files with. Additionally, the user may also view the command line string that may be used to replicate the functionality of the VDCWizard. This may be useful for users who want to learn more about how the command line utilities work, or incorporate the command line tools into their own scripts.
The VDCWizard currently supports the following input data formats: MOM, POP, ROMS, WRF-ARW, CAM, and GRIB
