Appearance of Flow

The Appearance settings control how the flow integration results are displayed.  The following settings are available for all three types of flow integration (steady, unsteady, field line advection):

  • Shape: Select either "Tube", "Arrow" or "Point" as the shape in which the streamlines are displayed.
  • Diameter:  The size of the display primitive (in voxels) .
  • Diamond Size: When a streamline terminates because the field becomes zero, that line is terminated with a grey diamond shape.  The Diamond size parameter controls the size of the diamonds and can be set to 0 if no diamonds are to be shown.
  • Arrowhead Size: When using Arrows to display flow lines, use the "Arrowhead size" to determine the size of the arrowhead relative to the diameter of the attached tube.
  • Color and Opacity:  The color/opacity mapping uses a transfer function editor to color flow lines.  In addition to using variables in the VDC, the editor allows "Position on Flow", and "Seed Index" as color/opacity-mapped variables. With unsteady flow, "time step" is available instead of "Position on Flow"

Additional Appearance settings are only available for steady flow and are discussed under streamlines.
