Isosurface color and transparency

The color and transparency is either constant or is controlled by a 3D variable.

  • A constant color and opacity can be set in the Isosurface Appearance section of the Iso tab.
  • Alternatively, the color and opacity of an isosurface can be determined by the values of any 3D variable.  Specify the variable in the "Mapped Variable" selector, and then edit the transfer function at the bottom of the Iso tab to get the desired coloring.
  • Transparency should not be used with more than one isosurface, as the blending will be incorrect.  If an isosurface is being displayed with a DVR enabled, or in the same space as a semi-transparent surface, the isosurface should be opaque.
  • Multiple transparent isosurfaces are correctly displayed when "Enable Improved Transparency Rendering" is checked in the User Preferences panel.
