Saving and Reusing Transfer Functions

VAPOR provides several different ways of saving and reusing transfer functions.  These are available for most transfer functions in VAPOR GUI as well as for the iso-selection window in the Contour tab.

If you click the button "Save TF" you will get two options:  Save to file, and save to current session. Saving to current session is useful if you expect to re-use the transfer function elsewhere in the VAPOR GUI; for example to use the transfer function on a different variable or in a different renderer.  Save to file if you expect to reuse the transfer function at a different time, in a different session, or on a different data set.

When you click "Load TF" you can load the transfer function from file, or load any transfer function that has been saved in the current session.

When you save a VAPOR Session file, you will be saving all the transfer functions in that session, including those that are used by renderers as well as those that have been saved to the session.  These transfer functions will be restored when you load the session file.
