Description

This test uses the data points on either side of an observation to check for consistency, and is useful for detecting and removing wild points. Since the neighboring points may be separated from the observation by varying time deltas, the thresholds for the buddy check are specified in terms of change per unit time. A point is discarded if it shows a change greater than the limit for one neighbor, and a change greater than the limit, but of the opposite sign, for the other neighbor.
